On July 1, the reporter met Yuan Qingfa, a veteran of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, at the resettlement site of Lianshan Street, Tianzhu County, Qiandongnan Autonomous Prefecture.
When I walked into my house, I saw Yuan Qingfa sitting on the sofa and watching TV attentively. The content was the live broadcast of the congress celebrating the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
On that day, Yuan Qingfa dressed neatly and was hale and hearty. On the tea table in front of him was a book entitled "Cultivation of Communists in the New Century". Yuan Qingfa said that he usually reads some books about party members. He is proud of being an old party member and told reporters about the past.
In October 1929, Yuan Qing was born into a peasant family in Bajie Village, Pingdi Town, Tianzhu County. In June 1951, he signed up for military service and joined the DPRK in September of the same year. In 1952, he joined the Communist Party of China in Korea.
"I was among the first to join the Party in North Korea, and it was right to follow the Party at that time." Yuan Qingfa said that as an old party member, what he was most proud of was his experience in fighting the US and aiding North Korea.
The old man recalled that their company was bombed by enemy planes just three days after entering the DPRK, causing heavy casualties. Then, they received instructions to stay in the area and help people rebuild their homes.
Yuan Qingfa recalled that there was no house where they went at that time, it was all ruins, and they had to clean up before they could build it again. At that time, there were no large machines. Pushing, pulling, and moving were all done by manpower. Although their hands, shoulders, and soles of feet were all worn and blistered, they were not relaxed. After cleaning up the ruins, he became a bricklayer again, moving bricks, mixing mud, building bricks, sealing walls, learning to do everything, and doing better and better.
Yuan Qingfa was very poor since he was a child, which helped him develop a hard-working character. He rushed ahead in everything and built solid houses for the local people. Also because he dared to think and do, the class where Yuan Qingfa was the monitor was rated as a model class, which was often praised by leaders.
At the beginning of 1954, Yuan Qingfa returned home with his troops. During the construction of the Yingsha Railway, the equipment for shooting holes flew out of his hand due to the improper operation of his colleagues. Unfortunately, it hit Yuan Qingfa in the abdomen, exposing his intestines and fainting on the spot. After being sent to Nanchang Hospital for rescue, Yuan Qingfa was demobilized and returned to his hometown.
Whether in North Korea or at home, Yuan Qingfa and his class are very excellent. They have won two personal third class merits and three collective third class merits.
Yuan Qingfa said that he was proud of another thing, that is, from illiterate to able to write reports.
Because his family was poor, Yuan Qingfa did not go to school for a day. After North Korea joined the Party, he thought that Party members should always go ahead and never go to school, so he worked hard in the later stage. He first asked his comrades in arms to teach him how to read and read. After keeping it in mind, Yuan Qingfa read it repeatedly to deepen his memory.
Yuan Qingfa said that "reading half of the big characters and a part of the small characters" was the "trick" he had found. At that time, paper and pen were very precious and difficult to find, so he used his fingers to draw on his arms, chest and stomach. He would "write" wherever it was convenient for him to write.
Over time, Yuan Qingfa can not only read a lot of articles, but also write reports.
In 1955, Yuan Qingfa, who was demobilized and returned to his hometown, served as the secretary of the Party branch and head of the township steel plant. After that, Yuan Qingfa gave up his job because his three children were still young and his wife had difficulty raising them alone. However, he always insisted on making contributions to the cause of the Party. He worked as an accountant and team leader in the village, and did not work in the village until he was old.
"I went through the old society and came to the new society. Now this society is better than any other society, thanks to the leadership of the Communist Party." Yuan Qingfa said that the most correct thing he did in his life was to join the big family of the Communist Party of China.
