Show your skills to promote rural revitalization. On May 8, the second National Rural Revitalization Vocational Skills Competition was opened in Guiyang. More than 700 contestants from all over the country competed on the stage of the national finals, focusing on 11 competition items, including masonry, agricultural machinery repair, elderly care, infant care, and e-commerce.

At present, the total number of skilled talents in China has exceeded 200 million, accounting for more than 26% of the total number of employed people; There are more than 60 million highly skilled talents. Skilled talents related to rural development also continue to emerge, creating a large contingent of rural skilled workers who love their jobs, are large-scale, have a reasonable structure, and have good quality, and contribute to rural revitalization.
With the progress of science and technology and the acceleration of industrial transformation and upgrading, the structural contradiction of the shortage of high-quality technical and skilled talents is constantly highlighted. However, some labor forces are also reluctant to engage in skills related jobs because of their low social status, social atmosphere of emphasizing academic qualifications over skills, relatively low income level and other problems.
In recent years, centering on the four links of "introduction, education, employment and retention", China has established and improved the cultivation mechanism of rural craftsmen, excavated, cultivated, inherited and developed a batch of rural craftsmen, promoted and expanded a batch of rural craftsmen, and stimulated the innovation and creativity of rural handicraftsmen and traditional artists. While driving the development of industries, all kinds of talents also display their talents and make contributions on the broad stage of rural revitalization, providing continuous support for skilled talents for rural revitalization.
In the process of cultivating skilled talents for rural revitalization, different regions also need to base on their own resource endowments and unique industrial advantages, grasp the industrial development trend, follow the growth law of rural talents, implement classified and hierarchical policies accurately, promote the deep integration of rural talent chain with industrial chain, employment chain and innovation chain, and accelerate the formation of new quality productivity.
For relevant colleges and universities, it is also crucial to strengthen the construction of relevant majors related to rural revitalization, cooperate with schools and enterprises to build training rooms, develop quality courses, and introduce professional teachers to cultivate high-quality skilled talents.
In January 2024, seven departments including the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security issued the Notice on the Implementation of the High skilled Leading Talents Cultivation Plan, which proposed to strive to cultivate more than 15000 new leading talents nationwide in about three years and drive about 5 million newly increased skilled talents.
