On the morning of May 17, the opening ceremony of the 2024 Guiyang Baiyun International Kite Fair, the National Kite Invitational Tournament and the 15th Guiyang Baiyun Kite Carnival was held on the Sunshine Lawn of Quanhu Park. 35 kite teams from home and abroad, more than 150 athletes, kite lovers, guests from all walks of life and citizen tourists gathered together to share the "kite culture" feast.

It is understood that the Baiyun Kite Festival has been successfully held for 14 times since 1989. In 2002, the General Administration of Sport of the People's Republic of China awarded Baiyun District the title of "Hometown of Kite Flying in Western China". The current Guiyang Baiyun International Kite Festival was hosted by China Kite Association, Guizhou Provincial Sports Bureau, Guiyang Municipal People's Government, and hosted by Guiyang Municipal Sports Bureau, Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism, and Baiyun District People's Government, aiming to further promote kite culture and promote the comprehensive development of mass sports and competitive sports.
