On March 12, the 2024 Single Tree Carbon Sink Planting Festival was held in Xifeng, sponsored by Guizhou Provincial Department of Ecological Environment, Guiyang Municipal Bureau of Ecological Environment, and organized by Guizhou Sunshine Property Rights Exchange Co., Ltd., Guizhou Environmental Energy Exchange Co., Ltd., and Guizhou Guiyang Ecological Civilization Foundation.
More than 120 party members, cadres, staff representatives and social media from Guiyang Big Data Industry Co., Ltd., Guiyang Credit Promotion Investment Co., Ltd., Guizhou Charity Federation, Guizhou Charity Federation, Guizhou Centennial Gathering Public Welfare Foundation, Guiyang Harmonious Community Public Welfare Information Service Center and other units were invited to participate in the event.

On the day of the event, the staff of Guizhou Environment and Energy Exchange Co., Ltd. introduced the single tree carbon sink project in Guizhou Province to the participants. The project is aimed at forest households with relatively low income and forest land in the province. The trees of forest households are screened, numbered and photographed according to the tree species, size and carbon sink function (absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen), Then, the forest information and the basic information of forest households will be entered into the big data platform of single tree carbon sequestration in Guizhou Province. The database of trees, carbon sequestration value, and basic information of forest households will be established based on the annual carbon sequestration value of each tree. Social individuals, enterprises, institutions, and social organizations will be mobilized to purchase carbon sequestration through WeChat public accounts, and the carbon purchase funds will be fully entered into the individual accounts of forest households.
The project is an innovative move to transform the ecological value of forests into economic value to help rural revitalization, a practical move to implement the idea that green water and green mountains are golden mountains and silver mountains, and a "main channel" to realize the ecological value of forest carbon sink. Since 2018, the project has completed the development of a single carbon sink for 12028 households in more than 600 villages across the province, developing more than 4.79 million plants, with an annual marketable carbon sink of 47.97 million kilograms, involving a development amount of 14.392 million yuan, 5.349 million plants sold, a total of more than 16.048 million yuan of carbon purchase funds, and an increase of more than 1300 yuan per household, contributing to the consolidation of poverty alleviation achievements and rural revitalization.

"Take today's bus ride as an example, 110 people took four buses, each of whom will produce 5.8 kg of carbon dioxide emissions. Buying a single carbon sink will offset individual carbon emissions with practical actions. ” Li Chunjiang, deputy manager of the carbon trading department of Guizhou Environmental Energy Exchange, said.
At the event site, the party members, cadres and workers who participated in the event also became participants and practitioners in spreading the concept of ecological civilization and guarding the colorful Guizhou homeland through afforestation. We worked together to plant more than 300 red pomelo seedlings, plant seeds of hope and write sincere messages.
