In the past five years, Guizhou, as an important position of China's ecological civilization construction, has actively responded to and thoroughly implemented various national policies on green development and ecological civilization construction.Since the "13th Five Year Plan", the state has attached great importance to ecological protection and green transformation in the western region, and has provided strong support and guidance for the grand ecological strategy of Guizhou Province through the implementation of a series of strategic arrangements such as the Outline of the Yangtze River Economic Belt Development Plan and the Overall Plan for the Reform of the Ecological Civilization System.

In specific practice, Guizhou gives full play to the advantages of the National Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone, fully promotes the green production mode, strengthens the environmental access threshold, strictly enforces pollution emission standards, vigorously adjusts the industrial structure, and actively cultivates four major industrial systems of ecological utilization, recycling and efficiency, low-carbon and clean, and environmental governance.By 2023, the proportion of green economy related output value in the GDP of the province has jumped to 46%, reflecting the successful implementation of the national green development strategy in Guizhou.

In terms of air quality,Guizhou has made remarkable progress in the past five years.According to the work report of Guizhou government in 2024, by the end of 2023, the average good days ratio of ambient air quality in central cities of the province was 98.6%;The average PM2.5 concentration in Guizhou has dropped to 20 mg/m3, which is about 29 mg/m3 compared with the national average level, and the decline has been in the leading ranks in China.
In terms of water environment quality,The excellent rate of water quality at the exit section of major rivers remains 100%, without inferior water bodies of Class V. Qiandongnan Prefecture, Tongren and other places are among the top in the country.The water quality standard rate of centralized drinking water sources in the province is 100%, ensuring the safety of residents' drinking water.

In terms of acoustic environment quality control,The sub standard rate of acoustic environment monitoring points in Guizhou urban functional areas was 99.7% in the daytime, and further increased to 93.8% at night.At the same time, hundreds of villages in rural areas have also completed the renovation and upgrading of noise control facilities, effectively ensuring that urban and rural residents enjoy a quiet and comfortable living environment.
In terms of ecological quality,The forest coverage rate in Guizhou continues to rise, reaching 63% by 2023. The 31 reform experiences in the construction of the National Ecological Civilization Pilot Zone have been listed as cases of national reform achievements.The second round of horizontal ecological protection compensation for the Chishui River basin was jointly implemented with Yunnan and Sichuan, which effectively protected biodiversity and natural ecosystem balance.

Outstanding achievements have also been made in soil and radiation environment management.Through the implementation of the soil pollution prevention action plan, the safe utilization rate of the polluted farmland in the province was 100% higher, which effectively guaranteed the quality of agricultural products and the safety of human settlements.At the same time, soil remediation projects for enterprises in several key industries were successfully completed。In terms of radiation environment supervision,Guizhou Province has continuously improved its monitoring capability. At present, it can detect 66 indicators, including air, water, soil, biology, noise and electromagnetic radiation, to ensure that the level of environmental ionizing radiation in the province remains within the natural background fluctuation, and the level of electromagnetic radiation is lower than the public exposure limit specified by the state, effectively maintaining people's life and health and ecological environment security.
Under the guidance of national macro policies,Closely combining with local reality, Guizhou has made full efforts from five dimensions of air quality, water environment quality, acoustic environment quality, ecological quality to soil and radiation environment, achieving significant progress on the green development path, and providing a feasible path and valuable experience for ecological priority and green development for less developed regions in the world.
