The procuratorial organ filed a public prosecution: a local man felled 401 trees purchased from others without a forest cutting license, but was caught by the public security organ. After the trial, Dafang County Court adopted the recommendation of the procuratorial organ and sentenced the man to two years and four months' imprisonment, two years and six months' probation, and a fine of 3000 yuan. In the civil part, the man was sentenced to buy 80 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent carbon sequestration reduction as compensation for ecological function loss.

According to the introduction of the procurator of Dafang County Procuratorate, according to the Criminal Law of the People's Republic of China, indiscriminate cutting of forests or trees, whether state-owned or private, in violation of the provisions of the Forest Law, is suspected of the crime of indiscriminate cutting of trees as long as the legal cutting procedures are not handled with the competent forestry authorities. Those who cut trees in large quantities are sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not more than three years, criminal detention or public surveillance, If the amount involved is huge, he shall be sentenced to fixed-term imprisonment of not less than three years but not more than seven years and shall also be fined.
