The China Development Bank (CDB), a major policy bank in the country, has stepped up loan support for urban village renovation projects nationwide.

Recently, the National Development Bank (CDB) has increased its loan support for the reconstruction projects of villages in cities across the country.

These projects had benefited about 360,000 households and had supported the construction of 695,000 housing units for people displaced by urban transformation, the CDB said.

The central economic work conference, which was held in December last year and set the country's economic policy priorities for 2024, underlined efforts to advance the construction of affordable housing and public infrastructure for both normal and emergency use, as well as urban village renovation.

Since 2023, the Development Bank has set up special work teams to actively implement financial support policies, formulate internal credit policies at the same time, build a multi-level, normalized and efficient communication mechanism with local governments, coordinate with them to make overall planning, and promote project implementation in compliance. The Central Economic Work Conference held in December last year identified China's economic policy priorities in 2024, emphasizing that efforts should be made to promote the construction of affordable housing and emergency public infrastructure, including the reconstruction of urban villages.
