In the mountains of northern Guizhou, the rainbow flies. Tongzi River Bridge, located at the junction of Renhuai City and Tongzi County, is a new channel connecting the two places. The bridge crosses Tongzi River, an important tributary in the upstream of Chishui River Basin. It is a steel truss suspension bridge with a total length of 1422m and a main span of 965m. The bridge deck is about 365m away from the river valley, and it is also the only special bridge with complex technology on Jin Ren Tong Expressway.

It is understood that the Tongzi River Bridge adopted the pile free foundation design in the construction of Tongzi'an bridge tower, becoming the world's first long-span suspension bridge with high and low towers adopting the pile free foundation design. The main cable of the bridge is made of 1960Mpa high-strength galvanized aluminum parallel steel wire, which is light in weight and soft in volume. The number of cable strands is optimized from 114 to 91. The anchorage system of the bridge adopts both tunnel anchors and gravity rock socketed anchors. The high and low towers on both banks adopt the form of pile group foundation and expanded foundation respectively. This structural combination is also the first in China.

"Due to the particularity of the karst landform, there is a large karst cave under the main tower. In order to ensure safe construction, the bridge finally adopts the pile free foundation design." Luo Huanbao, chief engineer of the seventh bid project department of Jin Ren Tong Expressway, told reporters that Tongzi River, as an important branch of Chishui River, has high requirements for green construction, so the project department, in the process of construction, Always put green environmental protection and low pollution in the first place to minimize the damage to the surrounding ecological environment.

At present, the construction progress of Tongzi River Bridge has been completed by 96%, and the whole line is expected to be open to traffic by the middle of 2024. After the completion of the bridge, the travel time of Renhuai and Tongzi will be shortened from 150 minutes to 20 minutes, which will play a positive role in improving the road network in Guizhou Province and promoting the economic development of the counties and cities in Zunyi.
