September 30 is the National Day of Remembrance for Martyrs. In the morning of the same day, the ceremony of laying flower baskets to heroes and martyrs on the Memorial Day of Guizhou Martyrs was grandly held at the Martyrs Monument Square in Guiyang Qianling Mountain Park. At about 10 a.m., the ceremony of presenting flower baskets officially began. Twelve guards marched forward from both sides of the square to stand in front of the monument. The whole audience sang the national anthem of the People's Republic of China in unison. After the national anthem was sung, the audience stood in silence and mourned for the heroes and martyrs. After the silence, the Young Pioneers with flowers sang "We Are the Successors of Communism" and gave a team salute to the Young Pioneers. The military band played the affectionate "Flower Offering Song", and 14 ceremonial soldiers escorted the flower baskets to the monument and placed them on the base of the monument.
